Vector Artwork Requirements
All supplied artwork for should be in vector format, if possible. Supplied images that are not in vector format such as bitmaps, jpegs or any other photo format may be subject to an artwork fee.
Acceptable Vector Filetypes:
- .AI (Adobe Illustrator)
- .EPS (Post Script)
- .PDF (Adobe Acrobat)
- . FS (FlexiSIGN)
*Please note, we are unable to work with .CDR (CorelDraw) or .DWG (Auto-Cad) filetypes.
What are Vector Graphics?
Vector-oriented images are more flexible than bitmaps because they can be re-sized without sacrificing image quality. Images stored in vector format will appear the same at any size, whereas bitmap images will degrade in quality the larger they made. This is especially noticeable in large format projects, such as vehicle wraps. Vector formatted graphics can also be plotted out of solid color vinyl while a bitmap must be digitally printed.
* Vector images generally require less memory than bitmaps, making them easier to transfer.
Bitmap and Photo Requirements
In some cases, photographs or other bitmap images are needed in a project. For example, most vehicle wraps will include both a vector formatted logo accompanied with several photographs or digital images that relate to the message of the wrap. In this case, we recommend you follow the below recommendations:
- Images under 24″ should have a resolution of at least 300ppi.
- Images from 24″ to 36″ should have a resolution of at least 200ppi.
- Images from 36″ x 60″ should have a resolution of at least 120ppi.
- Images from 60″ x 120″ should have a resolution of at least 75ppi.
- Images from 120″ – 240″ should have a resolution of at least 50ppi.
*You may choose to provide a Photoshop file (.PSD) if you have one available. This generally gives our design department more flexibility.
PLEASE NOTE: If there are specific colors that need to be matched for any supplied artwork, please include include a Pantone number, vinyl color, CMYK formula or LAB formula.
